Stops in Italy, Pompeii

There's only a few more stops till I head back to the good ole US of A. One of the stops was Pompeii. This was a very interesting stop. Its amazing to see what had survived after so many years. I would recommend trying to be in with one of the first tour groups. This is only opened for a few hours in the morning, then a few hours in the late afternoon. There were sooooo many people as the day went on. There is a small street market to shop while you wait for it to open and some good places to eat.

Even in 79 A.D there was a red light district.

Yes, you do see something in the bottom right corner, hehe
That's how you know where you were at.

The tile patterns are so pretty and unique.

The pattern below tells you, who's house you are at.
Its what was used as an address.

Some pottery that had survived

The roof of one of the many bath houses

Statues like this can be found in the rich homes and was used to keep the demons out of the home.

One of the shops that you can go into while waiting for the ruins to open is the Cameo Factory. Its a quick tour to take and there is amazing jewelry. All is made in Italy out of shells. I purchased this beautiful one. The artist that made her was there and I was ale to get his autograph on the back. There's a lot of history as to how the Cameo came about. One of them is
Early Greek and Roman carvings featured images of gods and goddesses, themes from mythology, beautiful women and biblical events.

Pompeii is must see when you make your trip to Italy.
Next stop is Capri.

Welcome to

Scotland There should be no surprise that us girls would go here.  The first day we drove around and found a really cute B and B. The next day we picked up Kristlynne. ( that's Kristas sister in law) I know what your thinking two crazy gals was trouble but three crazy gals. All 3 of us have some kind of connection with Scotland. As we were driving back from Sterling we stopped at the  Kelpies . These horse heads are huge. They can be seen from the highway. A lot of creativity and work when into creating these. As an artist I can really respect what the artist has created. ...

DIY Wedding Ring Box

It's been a while since I shared a DIY project. My little brother got married, there's a few projects that I did for this joyous occasion. I am really excited about how they turned out. I wanted to share with everyone the Wedding ring box project. The bride has shown me a picture of one that she liked online. And I thought it would be an easy task to make one instead of buying one. I found this little box at Jo Ann's craft store. Frist I started by removing the hardware. Stained it a dark color. After that was done drying, it was painted with a cream color. Then lightly sanded the corners and some of the flat surfaces, for a rustic look. I used transferable paper to get the image onto the box. I had purchased a small thing of silk and used Polly fill, for where the rings will sit. I did have an oopsie, had put the words inside the lid upside down. It was an easy fix. I couldn't be any happier with the way it turned ...

Capri Italy

The island of Capri is a beautiful one. Here is just a few pictures that I thought everyone would enjoy. We are off and headed to the Island  This is a Italy Coast Guard boat. Once a Coastie, always a Coastie.  It looks like, they don't want cars driven into the water.  The roads are very narrow. This is a very cute small town.  It was surprising and scary at how close the drivers would get to each other.  Picture from the top of the island. What a view!!!!  This is how big the buses are, on this tiny little island. Headed to the famous Blue Grotto Sunlight, passing through an underwater cavity and shining through the seawater, creates a blue reflection that illuminates the cavern The water gets a darker blue the further you go in.  After the Grotto, boarded the boat that would be taking us back to Sorrento, Italy.    ...
