Oh the gear I think I need/ suitcase

I have been shopping and shopping for the perfect stuff to use in Europe. First I need a suitcase. I have a few cute ones, but no ordinary suitcase will do. Now you might be wondering why. There will be some backpacking happening. And I don't want to have to carry a duffel bag and putting to much stress on one single shoulder. There will be some areas that rolling a suitcase won't be possible. I have been searching the web and the stores, for a mix bag of backpack/ duffel/ suitcase with wheels. Turns out there are a few to chose from. They are know as hybrid bags. Also not planning on checking in any bags at the airport, carry-on only.

Here are two that I had bought.

At REI there is a few selections to chose from. There is Ospery and Eagle creek. I also found one at Ross (surprised, me too). Depending on the brand really makes a difference in the prices. I did mention before that I was going to go as cheap as possible.

With the Ospery and Eagle Creek you will be paying a little more. (OK, a lot more) I went with the Eagle Creek 22 switchback hybrid. It has pretty cool features. Can use it as a duffel/ rolling suitcase and a backpack. (Everything I was looking for) Besides the backpack straps it also has a hip strap. This will help balance the load of the back so all the pressure isn't all on the shoulders. A bonus is that it has a zip away day pack. Big enough for items that you will need through out the day and fun things that you buy. The other is a Lucas hybrid bag. It has all the same carrying qualities, minus the hip strap.

Now the inside isn't to fancy. There are no separation pockets for socks and undies. There is a good amount of room though. If you really need to separate your stuff like I do. (OCD) Then just get some cubes. You should have a few small cubes anyways to easily locate phone and camera chargers and an international wall plug. The Lucas bag is just like a regular suitcase inside. Which is really nice and convenient. It also expands for those treasures that you end up buying.

They both have handles for using as a wheeled suitcase.  Both wheel around very nicely.

The Lucas has a good carrying handle like a regular duffel bag.

As you can see that there is a lot of benefits of having a bag like this. Now to figure out what is the better of the two. Krista maybe giving the Lucas a try. I will have a better review of the bags when we get back from our trip.

You might be wondering what is the price difference. The Eagle Creek is $340 (I did find it cheaper on eBay)  The Lucas was $40 (found that one at Ross). I highly recommend shopping around and check with the online shops too.

Trip cost (will be updated as preps are made)
Passport renewal $110
Passport picture $10
Eagle Creek 22 switchback $260 from eBay

Next, I'll be talking about some of the other gear that shall be useful for adventures.

Welcome to

Scotland There should be no surprise that us girls would go here.  The first day we drove around and found a really cute B and B. The next day we picked up Kristlynne. ( that's Kristas sister in law) I know what your thinking two crazy gals was trouble but three crazy gals. All 3 of us have some kind of connection with Scotland. As we were driving back from Sterling we stopped at the  Kelpies . These horse heads are huge. They can be seen from the highway. A lot of creativity and work when into creating these. As an artist I can really respect what the artist has created. ...

DIY Wedding Ring Box

It's been a while since I shared a DIY project. My little brother got married, there's a few projects that I did for this joyous occasion. I am really excited about how they turned out. I wanted to share with everyone the Wedding ring box project. The bride has shown me a picture of one that she liked online. And I thought it would be an easy task to make one instead of buying one. I found this little box at Jo Ann's craft store. Frist I started by removing the hardware. Stained it a dark color. After that was done drying, it was painted with a cream color. Then lightly sanded the corners and some of the flat surfaces, for a rustic look. I used transferable paper to get the image onto the box. I had purchased a small thing of silk and used Polly fill, for where the rings will sit. I did have an oopsie, had put the words inside the lid upside down. It was an easy fix. I couldn't be any happier with the way it turned ...

Capri Italy

The island of Capri is a beautiful one. Here is just a few pictures that I thought everyone would enjoy. We are off and headed to the Island  This is a Italy Coast Guard boat. Once a Coastie, always a Coastie.  It looks like, they don't want cars driven into the water.  The roads are very narrow. This is a very cute small town.  It was surprising and scary at how close the drivers would get to each other.  Picture from the top of the island. What a view!!!!  This is how big the buses are, on this tiny little island. Headed to the famous Blue Grotto Sunlight, passing through an underwater cavity and shining through the seawater, creates a blue reflection that illuminates the cavern The water gets a darker blue the further you go in.  After the Grotto, boarded the boat that would be taking us back to Sorrento, Italy.    ...
