Garden ready, finally

I'm so excited for spring this year. There's a fresh smell in the air from all the flowers blooming. The sounds of the new baby birds chirping in the morning.
Last year I had a small little garden.
As you can see a wheel barrel doesn't hold a lot.

So this year, went a little bigger and of course had to make sure it was a raised garden. There were many ideas thrown about how big the garden would be and how it was going to be constructed.
The frame was the top part of a loft style bunk bed. My brother moved out soooo.... Instead of throwing the frame in the trash, decided it would make a prefect raised garden.

Moved the frame to the to where I wanted the garden. Used an old pull liner on the bottom. We have guffers, so it kinda stops them from digging into the garden. And added metal sheeting to keep the dirt from falling through the cracks.
Now its time to get some dirt.

Love that I live in the country.
My dad borrowed the neighbors front loader and got some dirt from the field.

It took a lot of dirt to fill the garden. I have no idea how many trips I made to the front where the dirt was dropped to the back where the garden was.

I had already purchased the stuff that the family wanted to grow. You can see the stuff laying in front there.
Finally after shoveling dirt till the sun went down.
Its finally full enough to add the goodies.

This picture was taken the next morning. Looks full enough to me.
I then placed the plants where I thought I may want them. Moved them around a few times till it looked just right.

There are green bell peppers,  tomato, green onions,  lettuce seeds, purple bell peppers (yes a purple bell pepper, cant wait to see and taste that), cucumber and some marigolds (to keep out the bunnies and other wild life). Really excited to see this garden in full bloom (pictures to come).
And of course no garden is complete with out the protection of a gnome.

Welcome to

Scotland There should be no surprise that us girls would go here.  The first day we drove around and found a really cute B and B. The next day we picked up Kristlynne. ( that's Kristas sister in law) I know what your thinking two crazy gals was trouble but three crazy gals. All 3 of us have some kind of connection with Scotland. As we were driving back from Sterling we stopped at the  Kelpies . These horse heads are huge. They can be seen from the highway. A lot of creativity and work when into creating these. As an artist I can really respect what the artist has created. ...

Monterey Fun

My friend Skyler was leaving for a Coast Guard trade school. She is going to go for MST, that is a marina science technician. We thought we should go on one more trip before she left. So we  headed off to one of our favorite places MONTEREY. While we were there we thought it would be fun to go diving. SOOO we did what any mermaid would do but go to the local dive shop, rent some gear and went diving.  The weather was a perfect 80 degrees. The water temperature was a freezing 50 degrees.  (Just a little cold) Here are a few pictures of the dive. This was a large Sea Hare Slug. He was close to a foot long  (Fun fact they can grow up to 16in long) I have not seen so many sand dollars in one place.  It was a really neat thing to see. That little white speck is an octopus (Just a baby) That's me That's Skyler We also went  looking for Mermaid Tears (sea glass, found a good amount) and did some shopping...

DIY Wedding Ring Box

It's been a while since I shared a DIY project. My little brother got married, there's a few projects that I did for this joyous occasion. I am really excited about how they turned out. I wanted to share with everyone the Wedding ring box project. The bride has shown me a picture of one that she liked online. And I thought it would be an easy task to make one instead of buying one. I found this little box at Jo Ann's craft store. Frist I started by removing the hardware. Stained it a dark color. After that was done drying, it was painted with a cream color. Then lightly sanded the corners and some of the flat surfaces, for a rustic look. I used transferable paper to get the image onto the box. I had purchased a small thing of silk and used Polly fill, for where the rings will sit. I did have an oopsie, had put the words inside the lid upside down. It was an easy fix. I couldn't be any happier with the way it turned ...
