Mama's Girl Market

My friend Skyler was leaving for a Coast Guard trade school. She is going to go for MST, that is a marina science technician. We thought we should go on one more trip before she left. So we  headed off to one of our favorite places MONTEREY. While we were there we thought it would be fun to go diving. SOOO we did what any mermaid would do but go to the local dive shop, rent some gear and went diving.  The weather was a perfect 80 degrees. The water temperature was a freezing 50 degrees.  (Just a little cold) Here are a few pictures of the dive. This was a large Sea Hare Slug. He was close to a foot long  (Fun fact they can grow up to 16in long) I have not seen so many sand dollars in one place.  It was a really neat thing to see. Most everyone these days loves a good ole upcycling project. This dresser has been out on the patio for a while just waiting for the right person to come along and to give it a new life. My friend Skyler just moved into her new place and had no furniture. Soooooooooooooo I thought this would be perfect for her. And she was super excited when I told her about it.  She came over, saw it and in that moment know what she wanted to do with it. Moved it to the front of the house and got to work prepping it.  This is Skyler working hard This upcycled project took about a month. From the cleaning, sanding, drawing and painting. Skyler is an amazing artist.(I will be showing off more of her work soon.)  She drew the picture by hand, then painted it with beautiful bright colors. Skyler did such an amazing job. I truly can't wait to see what her imagination comes up with next.

So if you were wondering what to do with that extra wire from the Chicken wire frame. Make a crown.   I wanted to make a crown for my Aunts birthday. We love the ocean and everything that lives in it. So I thought it would be a perfect gift for a mermaid.    I first laid out the left over wire and cut to size and shape (remember be careful)      Then attached the ends together to keep it from opening. and keep its shape. Then comes the fun part decorating it. Found some turquoise spray paint and shells     With a little help from E-6000 a master piece was created.     Needless to say she loved it.   Enjoy and happy crafting!!
